Managing Energy Investments

Alternative energy is typically defined as coming from sources that do not deplete natural resources or harm the environment. Wind power is a typical example. The term alternative is used to contrast with fossil fuels according to some sources. Renewable energy differs from Alternative energy in that it may have significant environmental impact, as is the case for most hydroelectric dams.

Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources—such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat—which are renewable (naturally replenished). Renewable energy technologies include solar power, wind power, hydroelectricity, micro hydro, biomass and biofuels.

The world is seeking energy to satisfy the demands of industrialization that has crept every nook and corner. But energy supply has become costly with rising fuel prices and decreasing supply. Fossil fuels are limited in availability and is depleting with time. The demand for fuel energy is growing more than its supply. There is an urgent need for alternate means of energy. The renewable sources are now increasingly being used as an alternate source of energy. This type of energy is present in the sun, ocean water and the wind.

The renewable energy is highly useful as it can be developed again on completion as its source is unlimited in supply. It is also environment friendly with no harmful effects on earth. The cost of installing a renewable energy plant may seem high initially but once the plant is set up, it can cover up the total costs within the initial years.

Owing to the many advantages of the renewable energy, there has been a growth in the investments in energy sector. Last year, the energy investments amounted to 155 billion dollars. These investments has been used in drilling oil wells, harnessing wind and ocean water for energy production and many such productive activities. To help the investors in maximizing their gains, the world energy holdings was set up. World Energy Holdings is the parent company and governing body of World Energy Research.
